Cures & Healing

Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a persons care. If all that the chiropractor does is to reduce the pain and stop there, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is necessary to continue receiving care even though your symptoms are gone.

With drugs, surgery, medicine, chiropractic, homeopathy, osteopathy, acupuncture, and all other forms of healing, the primary goal is to give the body a break so it’s ability to heal can be restarted. Without a properly functioning nervous system, the body can not experience complete healing.

During the correction / restorative phase of your care, you will not have to receive adjustments as often as you did during the first phase of care and, depending on your particular circumstances, you may begin doing exercises and stretches either at the center or at home to help accelerate your healing.

The biological functions of our bodies follow the neurology. In other words, when the nervous system is healthy, the bodies biological systems have a chance to correct and heal itself from within as it was designed to do by our creator. Chiropractic does not cure conditions or disease, the bodies own systems and creator do the work.

In human beings and animals, regardless of the cause, when the critical alignment of the spinal column is disturbed, nature tries to self correct, immediately repair and heal abnormal structural stress and disease or damage. The doctors of Chiropractic’s specialized training uniquely equips them to aid and speed the innate healing process with advanced methods which, like nature’s own, are safe, effective, and generally painless.

The Atlas

The atlas is the large, uppermost vertebrae located just under the skull (see photo on right). It is the most intricate area of the spinal column, having the most complex ranges of motion. The boney atlas surrounds the soft brain stem and beginning of the spinal cord. The vertebral arteries pass thru the atlas directly supplying all areas of the brain (except for smell).

The body’s righting mechanism and core balance center is directly affected by Atlas alignment. With corrected alignment of the Atlas, the nervous system calms, and restarts.

Do not be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups in your symptoms on occasion. This is normal. Flare-ups are bound to occur during this phase because your body has not fully healed. Depending on the severity of your injury or condition and how long you have been suffering from it, this phase of your care may last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.
